Spring Community Litter Pick

Litter Pick Volunteers

The Spring 2013 Community Litter Pick was a great success with volunteers collecting over a dozen bags of litter.

With help, advice and equipment provided by Richard Weaver from Keep Wales Tidy, the group set off to tackle the main areas identified by the public survey. Mill Road/Castle Road, Merthyr Road, Iron Bridge Road and the children’s playground were completed first with groups also managing to cover several other streets.

Rubbish collected at Spring Litter Pick

Local primary school pupil, Ellen, who inspired the event said, “The day was great. We collected a total of 21 bags of rubbish, including 2 recycling bags in just an hour and a half! It was nice to meet other people who also want to clean up our village. I hope we can organise another litter pick soon”.

The organisers would like to thank the volunteers for their time and effort, Richard Weaver for his help and advice, Ely TimePlace for bringing extra equipment and the Community Council for providing insurance.

Several volunteers told me that they’d enjoyed the event and would be happy to take part again.
