This year on Tongwynlais.com
As part of a recent Facebook promotion, we asked the question: “what would you like to see us write about this year on Tongwynlais.com?”
There were some really good suggestions, which fell into five main categories:
- Dog fouling
- Old photos/history of the village
- Events and community groups
- Sport and leisure
We’ve had lots of feedback on the issue of dog fouling. We’ve reported on initiatives by Cardiff Council and we’ve collated useful information in a “Storify” stream. We’ll continue to report on this issue and highlight the problem.
Old photos/history of the village
The second most common suggestion was more articles about local history and old photos of the village. We’ve already published a few articles but we’d love to be able to write more. If you have any photos that you’re happy to share, please let us know.
Events and community groups
We have a dedicated events listing page on the site and we promote events that we’re told about on Twitter and Facebook. The most important thing is for local groups to let us know what’s going on. We’ve contacted the village hall committee and asked if they can send us regular information about events in the hall.
Sport and leisure
As the “Cycling Hub of Cardiff” and with easy access to the countryside, Tongwynlais isn’t short of sports and leisure activities. We published a couple of blog posts last winter from a local cycling enthusiast. I know there are lots more cyclists and runners in the village so get in touch if you have any ideas for articles.
The final suggestion was interviews with local people. We’ve done a few of these as part of our business focus series and we interviewed Sally Phillips when she started work at the school. We’ve got some ideas for people we’d like to interview so watch this space. And as always, if you have any ideas, get in touch.
Do you agree with these suggestions?
