Former Commonwealth Games athlete Sheree Phelps has moved her massage therapy clinic to Tongwynlais and is preparing for the grand opening.
Sheree competed in rifle shooting at the Delhi and Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2010 and 2014. She follows in the footsteps of her father, grandfather and great grandfather, who all competed for Great Britain in the same sport.
Her career highlights include gold at the 2008 Youth Commonwealth Games in India and 7th in the women’s air rifle pairs at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She won gold at the Welsh Air Rifle Open championship in 2013 and competed in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games the following year.
She recently decided to retire from the sport and dedicate her time to the new business.
Competing at such a high level, Sheree has experienced sports massage as an athlete and now wants to use her knowledge and training to help others.
The business has recently celebrated its first birthday and Sheree has built up an impressive range and commercial customers in addition her private clients. She visits offices to give desk massages and also offers home visits.
Podium Therapies can be found at The Retreat on Ironbridge Road. Sheree explained how she wants to combine the functional sports massage with the more indulgent relaxation therapies. She wants her clients to feel calm and comfortable as they take a break from their busy lives.
“People can just come and switch off and relax.”
Sheree is really excited to launch the new clinic and has an open day arranged for Saturday 27th August from 1-5pm. This is a chance to take a look at the clinic, meet Sheree and discuss the services she offers. There will be exclusive offers, goody bags, cupcakes and bubbly!
It was really interesting chatting to Sheree. She’s very passionate about sport and has worked really hard getting her business off the ground. If you’re training for the Cardiff Half and have some niggles or just want to reward yourself with a relaxing therapy, give her a ring on 02921 280660 or email sheree@podiumtherapies.co.uk.
