Postcards from Tongwynlais – Part 9

I’m going to finish 2019 with another postcard from the collection. This is a favourite image of mine and I have several cards featuring it.

This particular example was posted on August 3rd 1906. The date isn’t clear but the stamp features Edward VII, who was king from 1901 to 1910.

Castell Coch postcard front

This is one of a few postcards I have that place Castell Coch in Taff’s Well. Perhaps the location of the castle was disputed in the early 1900s. I’ve looked into whether the county boundaries changed after this date but I haven’t found anything.

An unusual feature of this card is the name of the post office on the front. I’m assuming W. J. Roberts produced this postcard to sell to tourists.

Castell Coch postcard back

The message on the back is perfectly legible for a card this age.
