Cardiff’s Great Forest
Fforest Fawr is a beautiful woodland close to Castell Coch and a short walk from the centre of Tongwynlais. Visitors can enjoy the sculpture trail, which was designed to take children on a magical journey through the forest, and many trails for walking and cycling.

Food and Drink
Forest Tea Room
The Forest Tea Room is a quiet hideaway, nestled in the forest with plenty of space for bikes and dogs. They sell hot drinks and snacks for explorers to refuel and relax.
Castell Coch Tea Room
If you want to take a break in the surroundings of our unique and beautiful castle, then head inside to enjoy a hot drink and some traditional bara brith. The tea room has recently been updated and reopened after a short closure.
Larch Disease
Natural Resources Wales have identified signs of larch disease in the forest. They have published plans to remove the infected trees. The work will take place over the next four years (2017 to 2021) and the forest will remain open during this period.
