Whitchurch library is facing closure as a result of the council’s proposed budget cuts.
The recently published “Changes for Cardiff” document proposes: “Council funding will be withdrawn from Rhiwbina and Whitchurch Libraries and the facilities offered as an opportunity for community ownership or commercial interest.”
There’s been an immediate response by library users who oppose this proposal. A group of residents gathered outside the library last week to show how strongly they feel. Wales Online covered the protest, which featured eight-year-old Lola Keogh’s emotive plea to Cardiff council not to shut her local library.
Brilliant show of support. Thanks to everyone that showed up @Craig4CardiffN @Mari_Williams @cathymediawales pic.twitter.com/Y8ZtWxgE9h

Even though Tongwynlais’ library provision won’t be affected, many people in the village use Whitchurch library and wouldn’t want to see it close.
If you’d like to get involved in the campaign to save the library, a Facebook Group has been created called “Friends of Whitchurch Library Park“. You can also keep up to date at myWhitchurch.co.uk.
