Behind the Scenes Tour of Castell Coch

Would you like to take a behind the scenes tour of Castell Coch? Cadw have just published details of eight tours starting from October 12th until November 30th. The following information is from Cadw:

Cadw are offering its members an exclusive opportunity to see the crucial conservation work being carried out at Castell Coch this Autumn.

This unique opportunity, which is restricted to 8 visitors per tour, will offer members the chance to have an intimate guided tour by a Cadw conservation specialist to see first hand the work being carried out to replace the brickwork on the four chimney stacks.

The private tour will take visitors to parts of the castle that are normally closed off to the general public to the very top of the gatehouse and keep tower which offers breathtaking views across Cardiff and the surrounding area.

Itinerary:

  • 12.00pm – A 20 minute induction including a short film on the conservation work and health and safety
  • 12.20pm – a 60 minute behind the scenes tour and questions and answers
  • 1.20pm – Tea and cake in the beautiful Castell Coch team room

Important Information:

Cadw will provide a hard hat and high visibility vest but visitors must ensure the they are wearing sturdy, robust walking shoes (no sandals, high heels or trainers) as parts of the tour will be along scaffolding planks and there will be 50 steps to climb up a spiral stair case.
