After months of preparation, a group of local residents have secured funding for an event to celebrate Tongwynlais. It will be in the village hall on Saturday 29th March.
“Knowing you – knowing Ton” will be an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate the past, present and future of the village.
The group of residents, under the name “Tongwynlais Community Group”, were formed after a meeting to discuss the proposed development next to the village hall. They organised, delivered and collated the village survey that went out last year. The group have been awarded a £495 grant from the Cardiff Neighbourhood Partnership fund to cover the costs of the event.
To celebrate the past, there will be old photos of the village on display. To celebrate the present, each household will be given postcards to write down what they love about Tongwynlais and these will also be on display. As for the future, there will be a chance to look at the responses to the village survey and to give your views on what you’d like to see happen in the village.
The primary school children came up with the name for the event and will be displaying artwork they’ve created. Community groups have been invited to come along and have a stall. This will be a great chance to see what activities they offer and to get involved.
We’ll be publishing more details this month so subscribe for updates.
