Celebrating Tongwynlais

postcard on display

On Saturday the village hall was home to an event celebrating the past, present and future of Tongwynlais. “Knowing you – knowing Ton” was organised to celebrate the village and how the residents of Tongwynlais think it can be improved.

Several community groups, including the WI, Community Council and local churches had the opportunity to talk to residents about what activities they offer and how people can get involved. There were old photos and memorabilia on display in the side room and the village survey results were available to view.

Tongwynlais Primary School pupils produced lots of great drawings, paintings and models inspired by the village and the postcards were on display.

post it notes

One of the most important activities to take place was a follow up to the village survey. Residents were asked what they think of the village, what they would like improved and how they can help. Lots of people left details of what skills they have to offer the village for future events and activities. This feedback will be used in a bid for funding to develop the village hall and potentially the land beside it.

We’ll have more photos of the event on the site later this month. You can subscribe to be notified by email.

If you couldn’t make the event and would like to find out how to get involved or receive more information then contact the Tongwynlais Community Group on tondevelopment@gmail.com.
