Consultation for Cold Calling Signs to be Erected in Tongwynlais

Cold Calling Control Zone sticker

The Cardiff County Council Trading Standards department have distributed plans for 19 Cold Calling Control Zone (CCCZ) signs to be erected in the village.

Cold Calling Control Zones discourage rogue traders and doorstep criminals. Zones do not automatically make it a criminal offence for unwanted doorstep sellers to call at your door but they are an important deterrent that also gives local householders the confidence to say “No” when approached on their doorstep.

Fair Trading Officer, Steve Langton, explains in his letter that this second consultation is taking place after 96% of responses to the initial consultation were in favour of a CCCZ in Tongwynlais.

I’ve mapped the rough location of the signs based on the supplied documentation. If you’re concerned about a sign, please contact Trading Standards to confirm its exact location.

According to the documentation, signs 2,3,4 and 17 (in blue) will use existing street lights while the remaining signs will need new posts.

Trading Standards are very keen to get residents’ feedback on these proposed locations. If you’d like to register any enquiries, suggestions or raise any objections to the proposed signs you can do this before the 12 November 2014 by:
