After completing the microscale Lego Tollhouse in part 1, I was immediately inspired to create a “Minifig-scale” version. I don’t collect Minifigures but I’ve acquired a few over the years and I thought it would be interesting to create a scene featuring the Tollhouse.
It took quite a while, mainly through trial and error, to work out how big to make the new model. I wanted to make it large enough to include more detail but not so much that it looked big and empty.
The microscale version was built almost completely in tan but I wanted this version to include darker, natural colours that suggest the texture of the stone and brickwork.

Even at this scale, it’s still hard to reproduce everything perfectly. I’ve tried to capture the main shapes and several smaller details.
I managed to build a simple information board, red tiled floor and the two hearths.

I don’t have any Lego bicycles or runner minifigures so I’ve included two Tongwynlais Historical Society volunteers, some tourists and a hiker.

The heart stone looks better at this scale and I’ve included some animals enjoying the wildflowers.
I’m working on another microscale MOC of a building in the village. I’m struggling to source pieces in the right colour though.
If you’re into Lego, I’ve got some more stories on castellcoch.com that you’ll love.

That’s really good. I love the details, you even have the heart stone!
You have more flowers than we’ve ever managed to grow down there! We wish we could get more flowers, but despite spending quite a bit on wild flower seeds, we got hardly any!
Well done on this Lego build!
